Romanian left proposes new PM candidate

A day after their first choice was rejected, Romania’s Social Democrats nominated former telecommunications minister Sorin Grindeanu for the prime minister post, EU Observer reports. Grindeanu could become PM this week. Initially, the Social Democrats nominated Sevil Shhaideh, a Muslim woman. Romanian President Klaus Iohannis rejected Shhaideh, whose Syrian husband is said to support Assad.
