Nord Stream 2: The elephant in the room

A crude world column published in EU Observer points out the EU’s energy (dis)union is not uttering a peep about Russia’s planned Nord Stream 2 pipeline in its “State of the Energy Union.” Nord Stream 2 will concentrate 80 percent of Russian gas imports in a single route, yet the energy union is charged with the responsibility of diversifying supplies. Also, the pipeline project appears to be violating EU energy rules, and Gazprom is peculiarly targeting a Swedish harbor for construction purposes, which may compromise Sweden’s national security.
