Kosovo president threatens to quit, force election in row over army

Kosovo’s President Hashim Thaci threatened to resign and force parliamentary elections if the Balkan state’s parliament does not approve a plan to create a national army, Reuters reports. The Kosovo Serbs, who have representation in the parliament, oppose the plan for a national army, as do Kosovo’s U.S. and NATO allies. NATO still has about 4,500 troops stationed in Kosovo.
