Russian Ag Minister Tkachov says Ankara’s response to ‘tomato conflict’ is ‘stab in the back’

Alexander Tkachov, Russia’s agricultural minister, declared Turkey’s restrictions on imports of Russian cereals “a stab in the back,” using the verbiage President Putin used to describe Turkey’s downing of the Russian SU-24 jet. In the minister’s estimate the Russian economy has lost $1.3–1.5 billion due to the trade conflict. Tkachov confirmed that Russia has no intention of revoking the embargo on Turkish tomatoes imports.
