Ukraine to block Russian social media in sweeping sanctions

Ukraine will block several top Russian websites, including the massively popular VKontakte social media network, The Moscow Times reports. Under an order signed by Ukrainian President Poroshenko, Kiev will impose new sanctions on Russia for three years. The measures will target the mail.Ru group, which owns the social media networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki, as well Russian internet company Yandex and anti-virus companies Kaspersky Lab and DrWeb. Additionally, Poroshenko’s order targets numerous Russian state media in the way of asset bans, broadcast freezes and website removals.
