‘Erdogan’s bodyguards’ in violent clash with protesters in Washington DC

A brawl erupted during Erdogan’s visit to Washington, leaving nine people injured — two of whom suffered serious injuries — and two arrested, The Guardian reports. Witnesses said Erdogan’s security detail attacked protesters carrying the Syrian Kurdish PYD flag outside the Turkish ambassador’s residence. Earlier in the day, Erdogan and Trump stood side by side and promised to strengthen ties despite Erdogan bringing complaints to Washington about the U.S. backing and arming Syrian Kurdish fighters.
