Russian Foreign Ministry official blames U.S. for death of Russian general

Russian Lieutenant General Valery Asapov was killed during shelling near the Syrian city of Deir al-Zor over the weekend. Sergei Rybakov, Russia’s deputy foreign minister, responded to the news by blaming the U.S. and saying Washington has a two-faced policy with regard to the Islamic State in Syria. The comment comes at a time in which Russian and American-backed military forces are advancing against IS in Syria and closing in on one another.
