Erdogan threatens to cut off oil flow from Iraq’s Kurdish area over referendum

With Iraqi Kurds at the polls on Monday in an independence referendum, Erdogan threatened to cut off the pipeline that carries oil from Northern Iraq to world markets via Turkey, Hurriyet Daily News reports. Hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil pass through the pipeline in Turkey daily. Furthermore, Erdogan vowed economic, trade and security counter-measures in retaliation for the independence referendum and said several options are on the table.
