Anger as German ex-chancellor Schroeder heads up Rosneft board

The BBC reports there is outrage in Germany over former chancellor Gerhard Schroeder being elected chairman of the board for Russian state oil giant Rosneft. Norbert Roettgen, the chair of the German parliament’s foreign affairs committee, said Schroeder’s move was unbelievable, and he is “cashing in” on his former role as chancellor. Schroeder has long been friends with Putin, and last year he became chairman of the board of directors for Gazprom’s Nord Stream-2.
