Russia and Saudi Arabia sign $3bn arms deal as King Salman visit shows how much relations have changed

With King Salman in Moscow for a visit with Putin, Russia agreed to supply Saudi Arabia with $3 billion worth of arms, including the S-400 missile defense system, the Independent reports. The deal is seen as a change in the previously rocky relations between Moscow and Riyadh. With China and India trying to become more militarily self-sufficient, Russia appears to be pivoting to new countries to sell weapons, while Riyadh may be acknowledging Moscow’s increasing influence in the Middle East.
