Russian State Duma bans ‘foreign agent’ journalists

Russia’s State Duma banned journalists working for U.S. media outlets registered as “foreign agents” (RFE/RL and Voice of America) from entering its confines, claiming it was “defending democratic values,” The Moscow Times reports. Moscow is framing the move as a mirror response to the U.S. Congress’ decision last month to strip Kremlin-funded news outlet RT of its press credentials.
