Russia loses top place among investors in Moldova

Moldova’s National Bank issued data showing Russia has fallen from first to sixth place among foreign investors in Moldova, Balkan Insight reports. In terms of direct investment in domestic economic stock, The Netherlands is the new leader among foreign investors in Moldova, followed by four other EU states — Spain, France, Cyprus and Romania. Economic ties between Russia and Moldova have weakened dramatically since Moscow imposed embargoes on Moldovan goods in 2013 and 2014 in response to Chisinau pursuing a European path.
