New US travel warning for Turkey angers Ankara

The U.S. issued a new travel advisory urging its citizens to reconsider travel to Turkey “due to terrorism and arbitrary detentions.” Washington’s advisory placed Turkey in the same travel risk category as Sudan, Pakistan, Guatemala, Venezuela and Russia, drawing an angry reaction from Ankara, Hurriyet Daily News reports. Ankara fired back with a travel advisory for Turkish citizens saying far-right and racist groups are carrying out terror plots and acts of violence in the U.S.
