Kosovo drops objection to EU court

Following pressure from western powers, Pristina gave up its objection to the implementation of the EU-sponsored Kosovo war crimes court, EU Observer reports. The creation of the court could possibly lead to the indictment of top Kosovo officials, including President Hashim Thaci. Meanwhile, as a result of pressure from Spain, the EU is backtracking on its stance of acknowledging Kosovo’s potential membership in the bloc, and at the UN, Russia seized on the situation with a statement saying Kosovo should not expect the number of countries recognizing its independence to grow.
