Recognizing the realities of Kosovo

For the 10th anniversary of Kosovo’s declaration of independence, Kosovo scholar James Ker-Lindsay writes a piece in Balkan Insight stating Belgrade and Pristina have fought to a stalemate over the issue of Kosovo’s recognition. Nonetheless, it is now clear that Kosovo is a separate state, and Serbia is facing pressure from the EU to recognize Kosovo. But Belgrade is reluctant to declare what it will demand in exchange for acknowledging Kosovo is a separate state, and Pristina is also reluctant to say what it will give up in order to become fully part of the international community.
