EU Western Balkans Summit: What Was Accomplished?

Josh Friedman reports from the European Union Western Balkans Summit in Sofia, where there was a lot of talk about “connectivity” in the region and some much-discussed handshakes between Greek and Macedonian PMs Alexis Tsipras and Zoran Zaev and between Serbia and Kosovo presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Hashim Thaci. However, the Macedonia name dispute has not been fully resolved, as Tsipras and Zaev must now get backing in their respective countries for a possible deal, and there was no decision made to expedite the EU accession process of the six Western Balkan states participating in the event.
