Gunmen attack church in Russia’s Chechnya region, killing 3

Four gunmen stormed a church in the Chechen capital of Grozny Saturday, killing at least one churchgoer and two police officers, The New York Times reports. The gunmen, who were also armed with knives, hatchets and homemade explosives, initially took hostages. Police killed all of the attackers during a shootout. The Times article notes Grozny will serve as the training ground for the Egyptian team during next month’s World Cup in Russia.
