Erdogan asks citizens to help prop up plunging lira

Erdogan pleaded with Turkish citizens to trade in euros and dollars for liras to prop up the plunging Turkish currency, Hurriyet Daily News reports. The lira fell to 4.92 to the dollar on Wednesday before an emergency rate hike by Turkey’s central bank helped the lira gain back a portion of its losses. The lira has lost 16 percent of its value against the dollar in the span of just a month.
