Macedonia PM pledges referendum on name deal

Macedonian PM Zoran Zaev said Skopje is very close to striking a final deal with Athens over the name dispute, and he pledged that Macedonia will hold a referendum on the issue in September or October, Balkan Insight reports. Zaev also said the name dispute solution will go to the Macedonian parliament for ratification prior to the referendum being held, so that Greece would promptly lift its veto on Macedonia’s NATO membership.
