Trump: North Korea’s Kim committed to ‘complete denuclearization’

Following a landmark summit between the U.S. and North Korean leaders, President Trump said Kim Jong Un is committed to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. However, Trump warned the sanctions on North Korea will not be lifted until “the nukes are no longer a factor,” RFE/RL reports. Trump said the U.S. would be stopping joint war games with South Korea and that Kim told him a North Korean missile testing site “is going to be destroyed very soon.” The two leaders signed a document that calls for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and Washington providing security guarantees to Pyongyang, though details on how this is supposed to be achieved remain undisclosed.
