Greece decides to expel Russian diplomats

Athens has decided to expel two Russian diplomats and ban the entry into Greece of two more, alleging the Russian diplomats intruded in Greek domestic affairs and committed illegal acts against the country’s national security, Kathimerini reports. Specifically, Athens in accusing the Russian diplomats of attempting to extract and circulate information and to bribe Greek state operatives. The operation reportedly failed. Tension over issues relating to regional security have been brewing between Athens and Moscow for the last two years, and this case appears to be bringing the matter to the surface.
