Russia is slowly declining as a space superpower

Following the recent arrests of Russian scientists for leaking technology secrets, U.S. defense publication Defense One publishes a piece stating Russia, the first country to launch a satellite, is losing its space advantage to leakers, competitors like SpaceX and, most importantly, China. SpaceX is eating away at Russia’s space market share through advancements in increasingly valuable areas like additive assembly and satellites, rather than space lift. Meanwhile, China has acquired Russian rocket technology —by way of purchases, leaks and IP theft — to the point where Beijing is expected to soon have domestically produced rockets that are comparable to Russia’s.
