NATO to increase membership and modernize air base in Balkans in expansion of power

The British tabloid Express reports NATO is expanding its power in the Balkans through adding member states and by announcing plans to construct its first air base in the region. The air base project will be the modernization of an existing Albanian base near the municipality of Kucove in south-central Albania. Albanian PM Edi Rama said the alliance plans to invest 50 million euros in the air base.  Simultaneously, Macedonia is in the process of joining NATO, and the alliance, which has troops stationed in Kosovo, is backing a proposal for Kosovo to create its own armed forces.
