Turkish lira and Russian ruble hit by US tensions

With Turkey and Russia troubled by U.S. sanctions, both the lira and ruble plunged Thursday morning, the Financial Times reports. The lira fell to a new historic low in London trading of 5.4364 to the dollar. Meanwhile, the ruble dropped to 66.24 to the dollar, the lowest it has been since November 2016. The ruble lost 3 percent of its value on Wednesday and declined another 1 percent Thursday morning.
