Putin signs unpopular bill raising retirement ages by five years

Putin signed into law the unpopular bill that will raise the retirement ages for both men and women in Russia by five years, RFE/RL reports. The pension reform law will gradually raise the retirement age for women from 55 to 60 and for men from 60 to 65. The bill had been the subject of large protests in Russia and led to a decline in Putin’s approval rating.
