Erdogan says AKP introducing bill to switch CHP’s Isbank ‘Ataturk shares’ to Turkish treasury

Erdogan announced his ruling AKP will introduce a bill in parliament to transfer to the Turkish treasury the shares in Turkey’s largest listed lender, Isbank, that  are controlled by the main opposition CHP, bne IntelliNews reports. The CHP holds a 28 percent stake in Isbank, which was given to the party by the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. CHP officials say, in accordance with Ataturk’s will, any profits from the party’s Isbank stake go to the Turkish Language Institution and the Turkish History Institution.
