Russia imposes financial sanctions on Ukraine’s political elite

Russia imposed financial sanctions on Ukraine’s political elite, targeting 322 individuals and 68 businesses, Reuters reports. Those targeted include President Poroshenko’s son Olexiy, presidential contender Yulia Tymoshenko, the head of Ukraine’s security service Vasil Hrytsak, interior minister Arsen Avakov and billionaire tycoon Victor Pinchuk. Businesses targeted include iron ore pellet producer Ferrexpo, poultry producer MHP and Ukraine’s biggest sunflower oil exporter Kernel. The sanctions freeze the Russian assets of the targeted individuals and businesses.
