Serb mayors in Kosovo resign amid tensions

All four mayors of the Serb-dominated municipalities in North Kosovo resigned in protest of Pristina’s decision to place 100 percent tariffs on imports from Serbia and Bosnia, Balkan Insight reports. While resigning, the mayors also cited violence against Serbs and the recent arrests by Kosovo special forces of Serbs who are suspected of murdering Kosovo Serb politician Oliver Ivanovic. In addition to the resignations, the local assemblies in all four Serb-majority municipalities cut off communication with Kosovo state institutions. Likewise, hundreds of Serbs protested in North Mitrovica, as tensions are again rising in the area.
