As long as Trump is president, Putin has no reason to meet with him, Moscow foreign policy expert says

Paul Goble’s Window on Eurasia blog notes the head of the Moscow Institute for Foreign Policy Research and Initiatives, Veronnika Krasheninnikova, is saying Putin has no reason to meet with Trump because “as long as President Trump is in power, nothing positive in US-Russian relations can occur.” The well-connected Russian foreign policy specialist goes on to say one should “trust” what other U.S. officials say about relations with Russia, i.e. Kurt Volker suggesting Washington will increase pressure on Moscow, because these remarks have more credence than Trump’s comments about wanting to improve relations. Krasheninnikova says Moscow should try to develop relations with other world leaders, rather than pursuing a “summit” with Trump.
