Germany Fails to Reach Energy Efficiency Goals

After failing to lower its CO2 emissions, Germany has now acknowledged that it will fail also in its self-designated efficiency objectives. These objectives called for achieving a 20% improvement in energy efficiency by 2020 vis a vis 2008. So far only 6% has been achieved. Nor does it look good for the overall Energiewende.
This requires production of 3000 terawatthrs of renewable energy by 2050.
Production today stands at 150 terawatthrs and there is a zero chance to increase renewables 20 fold.
