Why is Russia’s growth in life expectancy slowing?

Between 1990 and 2013, Russia’s growth in life expectancy slowed compared to the rest of the world, and it finished the period ranked 108th — between Iraq and North Korea in in world rankings. Due to the economic crisis, lower incomes, a weak health care system and persistent health problems, like alcoholism and heart disease, Russia’s life expectancy ranking is expected to get worse in coming years, a pice in The Moscow Times states.
