Turkey’s foreign ministry says a Russian fighter jet violated Turkish airspace on Friday, Hurriyet Daily News reports. Following the incident, Ankara summoned Russia’s ambassador to Turkey, and Erdogan said Russia will bear the consequences if it continues to violate Turkish airspace. Moscow claims no Russian aircraft deployed to Syria has violated Turkey’s airspace. In November, Turkey shot down a Russian jet over the Turkish-Syrian border. Russia has since imposed economic sanctions against Turkey, and tensions have escalated between Ankara and Moscow.
