ERDOGAN

The article first published in americanthinker.com on 08/14/2018. And so by mid-2018, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has achieved virtually everything he sat out to achieve when he first came to power in 2003. Turkey is now in everything but the name an Islamist dictatorship with Erdogan as the unchallenged leader. Yet, instead of feeling supremely confident, Erdogan and his clique are beset by ineluctable problems and foreboding of disaster down the road.   The article first published in americanthinker.com on 04/16/2017.   On April 17, the Western world would wake up having to answer the urgent question: “Who lost Turkey? The day before that, Turkey would have completed its shocking transition from a long-term NATO ally and an imperfect democracy,  into an Islamist dictatorship that threatens the West and peace in the Middle East more than any other state actor, Russia included. There will be many answers, excuses and justifications for this sad state of affairs, but what’s not at issue is that Turkey is lost, perhaps for a long time, as a friend of the West.   In the run up to the Turkish referendum on the 16th there are still many pundits in the West who continue arguing that Turkey could

„Kalugin slept and dreamed that as he knelt in the bushes, a militiaman passed by.    Kalugin awoke, scratched his mouth, slept again and dreamed again that he was passing by the bushes and in the bushes a miliatiaman was hiding and kneeling there.   Kalugin awoke, placed a newspaper under his head so as not to soil the pillow, slept again, and dreamed again that he knelt in the bushes and beside the bushes there passed a militiaman. (…)  Kalugin screamed and shifted about in bed, but could not waken…”       From “Dream” by Daniil Harms, 22 August 1936     Who’s to say that writers aren’t prophets? Not only science-fiction writers, but also the absurdists.   Especially in Russia. The nightmare of Kalugin with the militiaman who never ceases to
